5 Ways for Students to Find Rewarding Careers

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

Many students have regretted the career they took for several years because when they graduate they are left without jobs. The degree they took up has no enough employment opportunities.

Here are basic guidelines students should learn so that their four to five years in schools will not only be wasted. Of course, we go to school to earn a degree and have a rewarding career in the future . However, we still didn’t find them after college; there must be something wrong with the kind of career we choose.

1. Take some research. Before you will enrol or enter college life you should be able to already have a research what particular course or degree to take which should give you rewarding career in the future. If you cannot do this you may only be wasting your parent’s hard-earned money. Remember, your parent send you to school to prepare your future and not to become only a jobless animal in the planet. Choosing for your career wisely is one important step to move forward and enjoy life in the future.

2. Enrol in a competitive school. Not only that you are going to choose the proper degree for you but you should also be able to enrol in a very competitive college or university. It’s normal that many big corporations would choose to hire employees who are from very competitive schools. This is normal because many big corporations and companies want to have smart people in their organization. Usually, those smart professionals and degree holders they are looking come from reputable universities and they are assured of quality employees by doing this thing.

3. Schools that have complete lab facilities. One more thing you also consider when you enrol in college is the kind of schools that have complete laboratory facilities. Many big and corporate companies expect that if you are a graduate in reputable schools your actual performance in the career must be excellent.

4. Schools that excel government-required annual evaluations. There is an agency in the government that takes charge of monitoring the annual performance of different colleges and universities. The government know very well whose schools or universities are not performing and subsequently issues warnings. If the school continues to fail in annual performance evaluations they are then ordered closed. Those colleges that fail in certain degree are warned that the degree they offer which failed for several years to get good performance will be ordered to disband the course offering.

5. Careers which you have fascinations. It is also a plus factor if the career you decide to choose is the kind of a career which you have fascinations. The more you will enjoy finishing your degree if you like it because you will enjoy going to school everyday. Basically, if it’s your parent’s choice you would not be interested to finish it and it would be a problem in the future.

Students and the Internet

Friday, November 16th, 2007

The emergence of the information superhighway is a big help for many students all over the globe. In fact, the internet has become a worldwide dictionary and encyclopedia for all - where students can easily get information about the subject matter in school. If they want more they can always browse available information 24/7 in the internet.

Here are basic advantages many students can get in the information superhighway so they would always give many thanks to the internet as being their “international library”.

•    The internet as a worldwide library is free for all. This is the best advantage many students can get in the internet. Since it can be called the biggest worldwide library everybody all over the globe can access. In the past many students are deprived of many information and their research materials are only limited. Only those who have volumes of encyclopedias at home could always have good research whenever the professors give assignments especially in history, science, economics and mathematics.

•    It easy to make research in the internet. When students would have to research for topics as part of their assignments, they can easily browse selected sources of information because they would just simply type the keyword in the search engine and click the “go” sign. Immediately in a just a matter of minutes all the information is displayed in front of them without the hassles of scanning the pages like they did in libraries. If they need to get hold of the full content they would just print it.

•    Can easily get comprehensive report. When students are told by their professors to get comprehensive report of a certain topic they wouldn’t find it difficult to look for research materials liked they did in the past. The information superhighway could easily give them the comprehensive report the students need. This is how important is the internet today for many students. The assignments are made easy and could no longer be a problem.

•    Internet gives equal opportunity for all. As far as usage of the information superhighway no one could ever tell he was deprived of the many opportunities available. Since everyone can make use of the internet as a good research tool there is really equal opportunity for everyone. In fact, many students in third world countries have gained access through the internet by knowing the many updates in other colleges and universities in the US and European countries, the same as with the students in developed countries.

Why Students Fail in Class

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

There are many reasons we can consider why students fail in class despite of the best instruction method performed by many teachers . Those who still fail in class lack the enthusiasm because they didn’t like the teacher or disturbed by other very disturbing matters such as love, vices and problems.

Let’s discuss one by one the many reasons which can affect the attitude of students towards their school activities.

•    Love – When love struck every student this could also affect the way the person handles things. Many students especially in high schools where they are challenged by womanhood and manhood or what we called puberty, are destroying their lives. They often cut classes and met their boy friends, went shopping in malls and experiences undesirable things which they would realize later as fault. Because they’re too young to handle things like this they could not immediately weigh things as bad or wrong from what is right and advisable. They tend to make mistakes every now and them because they want to explore things even to the worst that would happen.

•    Vices – Vices is another thing. When students are tempted to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and later take drugs as peer pleasure, the problems arise. They could not immediately control the rash things they have made because they’re too young to understand the facets of life. Although many people look for this things as usual experiences of teenagers but many psychologists said all these problems encountered by many students can be corrected and fine tuned. All it takes is only proper guidance from parents and the school authorities. The ultimate goal is only to work hand in hand and monitor the behavior of many children, especially if they are showing signs of misconduct and bad behaviors during the transformation period of their youth. Vices can really ruin the good activities of students in school. With vices are friends which are bad influence for good students. When friends dominate the group and started to experience bad things such alcoholism, cigarettes, and other tempting activities many problems would then arise later.

•    Family matters – One more thing that could destroy the school life of students are family matters. When the family experiences problems whether financial or other domestic problems the students are usually affected. Their studies are no longer regular because she would always be bothered by the problem of the family. This especially if the problem calls for their attention.
